Since 1933, this charming little spot in the Heart of Italy has seen its share of celebrities, politicians and other high-profile types who've ventured out to sample its famous Italian cuisine. Bruna's, owned and operated by Luciano Silvestri, features a tiny bar in the front, and a tightly spaced dining room in the rear where patrons pack in for hefty portions of chicken Vesuvio, eggplant parmesan, spaghetti puttenesca and other traditional Italian delights. A popular date destination, the restaurant is also dimly lit, making for an extremely romantic night out -- without being over the top. An extensive wine list highlights some of the best moderately priced Italian choices around. Don't miss the tiramisu. -- Audarshia Townsend

Authentic? Clueless Chef?
By cocoabeach157 on 02/24/2008
I don't think the service was too good - but an indication of how either 1) clueless the staff is or 2) how clueless they think their customers are .... is that they served me Liguini and Clam Sauce --- but no Liguini - clam sauce on spaghetti. I complained and they said it was an error. I don't think so.... Food was not bad, wine was too expensive. But I do feel that the comments that the restaurant is arrogant is true. Go across the street and try the other restaurant....I went there before and it was much better and friendlier.

rude owner

Our family dinner was slowly wrapping up. An older man came to our table and instructed my 75 yr old parents that we had to finish our wine and vacate since we had paid for the bill. When we wanted to finish our bottle of wine, he became beligerent and ordered all 8 of us out - never return! We have never been treated so rudely and we will never return.

Lively but cozy setting. Gracious service. Authentic simple preparations. The polenta with calamari appetizer, mussels in marinara and anything with the bolongnese sauce can't be missed. The owner himself makes the tiramisu and it's delicious!
